Current mood: content

Who: Hannah Abbott & Charlie Weasley
What: Coming out of hiding
When: Wednesday, September 11th, 4am or so
Where: Room in the dungeons, the halls, room of requirement
Rating: TBA
Status: In Progress

Hannah awoke earlier then usual, the air of despair that had surrounded her for the past three months strangely absent. She wondered, not for the first time, if she really meant that little to people that they hadn't come looking for her in all that time. She was filled with a sense of purpose. She had to find Charlie, prove herself, and make sure no one could hurt him.

The door swung open of it's own accord, and Hannah got to her feet, feeling weak in a way she hadn't the entire time she'd been in the room. She was starving, but looking down at the shredded negligee and soiled track pants she wore, she knew she was in no fit state to be seen in the kitchens, let alone the Great Hall.

The journey back upstairs to her room almost did her in, and as she neared it she grasped the worn troll tapestry. If only she had something, anything to eat, she'd be okay...

As if on cue, a door appeared on the opposite wall, and Hannah stumbled through it, landing hard on the ground, or at least it would have been hard, had it not been covered with cushions. A low table was beside her head, bearing a plate of croissants and danishes, and Hannah began to stuff them blindly into her mouth until she was sated. She fell back against the cushions, closing her eyes for a moment and enjoying the feeling of fullness.

When she got to her feet, she found a small bathroom had appeared, and she gladly stripped away her ruined clothes and began to wash the dirt and oil from her skin and hair.

Her heart caught in her throat as she stepped out, wrapped in a fluffy towel, and found a pair of men's jeans and a button up shirt that looked suspiciously like something Charlie would wear. There was also a pale peach lace bra and panties which felt strange under the masculine outfit, a pair of ankle boots, and a thick wool coat.

Feeling sufficiently human again, Hannah left the room with a smile of thanks, although it was a pity it couldn't make Charlie appear - he was what she really needed. Leaning against the wall opposite her room, or at least what she remembered it being, Hannah tapped her wand casually against the leg of her jeans, waiting for the rest of the castle to stir. She looked content, as if she didn't know (or didn't care) that they were trapped. Had she even noticed Minerva was dead, she would have borne it with a shrug and a simple C'est la vie.

It had been days since Charlie had been with Hannah, the image of her running away angry at him still invading his mind. He wasn't even sure what he'd done wrong. Surely, Hannah could understand that they were just friends, but apparently not.

Staying in her room had been difficult and Charlie had found himself rooming with Ron to stay away from anything that reminded him of her. He'd managed to lose his best friend in one action and now he was left alone with Ron, who was constantly whining about not winning over Hermione.

Charlie had decided to wander the castle today, sighing at each turn onto a new floor. Once he'd reached the seventh floor, however, he'd caught sight of a patch of blonde hair. His heart jumped and he set off, hoping to Merlin that the hair didn't belong to Ava Rivers.

"Hannah?"

Hannah's breath caught at the sound of Charlie's voice, but she took a moment to survey the hall before she turned to him, a smile just touching to corners of her lips.

"Charlie" She pushed herself up from against the wall, pushing a curl of hair back behind her ear as she calmly approached him.

That night, the night he had rejected her, she had had a predatory stalk, but now her posture was simple, relaxed, easy. She took a light hold of his wrist, avoiding his gaze.

"I didn't mean to be gone so long.." The sentence trailed off as a horrible feeling of guilt rose in her throat. She'd left him for months, alone, without her there to look after him. "I understand if you can't forgive me, if you've found someone else to look after you, but I would hate to lose what we have."

Charlie stared at her for a long moment, puzzled. "You haven't been gone that long. A day at most." He stroked back a bit of her hair, noticing the light feel of her presense. As if she was completely at peace with the world.

He leaned down and gave her a tender kiss to the forehead, smiling at her. "Are you alright?" He asked softly. "Where were you staying?"

"Trust me, from the way I looked, and the way I smelled when I got out of there, I've been gone a hell of a lot longer then a day." She smiled as he kissed her forehead.

"I've got you, of course I am. Although I'll be surprised if I still have a job after all of this. I've not exactly been reliable." Hannah linked her arm through his.

"Your room, I think, or at least somewhere in the dungeons." She shrugged "I'm afraid I was rather upset, silly of me, I know, but in any case there's still work to be done. But if you like I could call it quits and you could stay with me."

She leaned her head protectively against his shoulder. "I mean it makes sense, doesn't it?" Without giving him much of a chance to answer, she piped up again "Are you hungry?"

Considerably more concerned now, Charlie wrapped an arm around her waist, not willing to let her get too far until he was sure everything was alright. She'd only been gone a day that he could remember, but she was pretending as if it had been weeks or even months.

He frowned at her for a moment, then sighed. "Han, it's only been a day. I promise." His look was now more of confusion as he stared down at her. "There's no need to worry about your job. You haven't missed anything but Tonks and Lupin being saved from the vines."

"I'm not hungry, now." Charlie shook his head, now taking her hand. "But, if you're hungry, we can go get a bit of snack from the kitchens."

Hannah gave him an odd look, deciding not to press things further, even though she knew she was right. "That's good news. As long as she keeps her hands off you." The tone of her statement was far less breezy then it had been thus far.

After all, they'd been about the same age, and he obviously had a thing for Hufflepuff's. Hannah had every right to be jealous.

"I mean she obviously like her men rough around the edges, doesn't she? But yes, lets get some food, I had a little before but it's been so long since I last ate a little more wouldn't go astray."
